Missouri University of Science and Know-how receives $300 million.

A $300 million donation to Missouri University of Science and Know-how in Rolla will increase science, engineering, engineering and math instruction at the college and grow the state’s economy, Chancellor Mohammad Dehghani said Monday. 

It is the greatest donation ever to a Missouri higher education institution.

The two objectives are the eyesight of the donors — St. Louis businessman Fred Kummer and his wife, June, Dehghani claimed.

Fred Kummer is a 1955 graduate of what is now Missouri S&T. He shaped HBE Corp. in 1960 to do layout-establish development for overall health care, like campus buildings.

“I owe a lot of my success to the instruction I obtained at Rolla,” Fred Kummer said in a news launch. “My Rolla encounter taught me how to consider, how to perform difficult and how to manage my very own vocation. The donation will set up a new, impartial, college-affiliated research and development center modeled on present facilities like Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.
